A Survivor Who Speaks: From Prison To Purpose

I like to refer to myself as a survivor, because that's exactly what I am. I've been through some of the darkest moments in life, including imprisonment and childhood trauma, but I refuse to let those experiences define me. As a restored citizen, I've seen firsthand the challenges that come with mass incarceration and how it perpetuates a cycle of recividism. But I also know that there is hope for change and transformation, because I am living proof of it.

A Voice for Change: Addressing Collective Trauma, Mass Incarceration and Recidivism

I am not just a speaker, I am a voice for change. Through my own experiences and research, I have come to understand the deep-rooted issues of collective trauma, mass incarceration, and recidivism in our society. But being aware is not enough - we need action to create lasting change. That's why I use my platform to educate and advocate for those who are often voiceless in these conversations. Together, we can break the cycle and create a better future for all.

An Advocate For The
Military Community:
Healing Generational
Trauma

Experiencing trauma in the military is not uncommon, but it is often overlooked and under-addressed. As a family member of veterans and an advocate for the military community, I have seen firsthand the impact of generational trauma and the barriers that prevent healing. That's why I am committed to raising awareness and providing resources to support those who have served our country. Together, we can create a more understanding and compassionate society for our military community.

A Warrior for Peace:
Using EFT and Trauma Informed Practices to Create A Better Future

I am a warrior for peace, and I believe that true change only comes from within. That's why I am passionate about using EFT and trauma-informed practices to help individuals heal and create a better future for themselves. By addressing the root causes of why we suffer, we can break the cycle of trauma and create a more peaceful and harmonious world. Let's work together to heal ourselves and our communities through these powerful practices. Together, we can make a difference.

“ Lisa's story and the writing was quite compelling. Lisa forbes' memoir forced me to rethink how best to impact change. In her book lisa argues that, while housing and jobs are indeed a major obstacle to returning citizens, addressing the underlying trauma that leads so many to the criminal justice system should be at the real core of our work as society. Her gripping and, at times, graphic story of her trials, tribulations, and triumph left me inspired.”

“Forbes' account of her early life and the events that led up to her imprisonment is powerful and unflinching. But what distinguishes this memoir--and brings urgency to her story-- is the insight she offers into the link between unhealed trauma and criminal acts. This is a book that demands to be read.” — Donald Rae, Head of e-commerce, Tattered Cover Book Store

“her story is absolutely amazing, to say the least, and she is doing amazing things. It is just an inspiration to see how she came from where she was to where she is now, and I fully support her work and highly recommend that you do so, as well. I really love lisa. She's just amazing.”

Kirkus Reviews

"Candid and harrowing, this book calls into question the nature of the “justice” meted out to the impoverished in the U.S., joining a vast and growing body of literature on the broken criminal justice system. An inspiringly courageous memoir."
